Introducing Climate Spectator
What is Climate Spectator?
Climate Spectator is a new website that will seek to cover not just the science and politics of climate change, but also the key business parameters: the massive flows of investment expected in coming years and decades, the changing business models, the new technology, and the creation of new markets and investment propositions.
Why a new website?
Simply because the issue is so broad, and the business implications and opportunities so immense. The scale of new investment will run to the trillions of dollars, driven not just by climate change, but also parallel issues such as energy security and energy costs, food security and the desire of the world’s most powerful countries to seize the initiative in a low carbon economy.
How will you cover the issues?
We’ve broken the site into five distinct sections. Policy and science speaks for itself and covers developments in Australia and overseas. Smart energy will focus on the new energy sources, smart grids and energy efficiency that will transform the way we produce and consume energy. CleanTech will focus on cutting edge innovations and ideas. Green Business will monitor how companies and industries are transforming themselves and looking at new opportunities. Enviro-Markets are a vital part of the equation and this section will focus on various markets and the investment case for the green economy.
What kind of content can I expect?
We will publish stories from international and local wire services, and commentary and analysis from our own team, led by Climate Spectator editor Giles Parkinson. We will also source opinion pieces, commentary and analysis from a host of industry experts across the scientific, business, legal, and banking sectors, as well as industry groups and think tanks.
Who is your audience?
Anyone who is interested in climate change as an environmental, social and business issue, but particularly the industry leaders, business folk, policy makers, and investors who will make the anticipated shift to a low carbon economy a reality.
How much does it cost to access the site?
Nothing, it’s free. All you need to do is register. We also recommend you sign up for the daily email, which will deliver the latest news and commentary into your inbox each working day before noon.
Where will you get your funding?
Through advertising.
Are you crazy? That will never work!
It’s the model for our parent site, Business Spectator, and it’s been a success so far. If you would like to discuss an advertising opportunity, please email us at advertising@climatespectator.com.au.
What if I have a news tip or want to contribute an opinion piece?
Please send us an email at editor@climatespectator.com.au.
Good luck!
Thanks, and please keep reading, tell your friends and contacts about the site, and send us your feedback.
